Once you complete the contact form on this website, I typically reply within 24-48 hours (not including weekends or holidays) to schedule a no cost 15-minute phone consultation.
We will use the phone consultation to see if I am a good fit for your needs, discuss type of therapy (ie in person vs online) and to address any initial questions you may have. At the end of the call, if we decide to work together, we can make an appointment for the initial evaluation. If you are not sure, you are always welcome to give the decision some thought and get back to me at a later time.
After your phone consultation and prior to your first appointment/evaluation, I will send you an email to complete several documents through a secure online portal. These documents will include intake paperwork such as consent forms, contact information and symptom assessments.
Your first session will be 75 minutes. I will ask about what you would like to work on in therapy and ask questions about many areas of your life in order to better understand your experience. At the end of this session, we can discuss a tentative treatment plan based on the information gathered. Assessment is an important part of the treatment process that occurs throughout treatment but especially during the first few sessions.
The length of cognitive behavioral treatment varies but research indicates that on average, 10-20 sessions one time per week may be enough to experience significant improvement. There are a variety of factors that contribute to the length of treatment and the number of sessions may be shorter or longer for your treatment. We will regularly monitor and discuss your progress in order to make adjustments to treatment as needed.

CBT Milwaukee is self-pay only via cash, check, or credit card payments. Payment is due at the time of service.
No, CBT Milwaukee does not work with insurance and is considered an "out-of-network" provider. This means you are responsible for payment of fees at the time of your session.
If you have out-of-network benefits through your health insurance carrier, you may choose to submit claims to them for reimbursement. At your request, I can issue a statement that you can submit to your insurance company. If you have questions, I will be happy to discuss this process with you during the initial phone consultation.
Health insurance coverage of telehealth depends on your plan. If you are interested in telehealth services and plan to seek reimbursement, you will also want to check with your insurance company about whether or not telehealth services for behavioral health are covered under your plan for out of network providers.
CBT Milwaukee is not a covered provider for Medicare or Medicaid and patients will not be able to independently submit claims for services.
